What are the most common trends that will get an even bigger say next year than today? Let's discuss the 5 most common HR and business trends that we are looking forward to in 2023!

1. Working from home/remotely

Remote work will be with us next year as well. This model of work is more and more popular because people can adapt their work to their living conditions without their productivity suffering.

Statistics show that productivity and company culture do not decline if there is proper communication through communication channels in the company, regular feedback is given and news about the company is regularly sent, e.g. via e-mail or posted on the company intranet. Yes, it's exactly the same rules as for working in an office. Technology has allowed us to do such things even from home, a cafe or Croatia.

Therefore, those who have not yet jumped on this already quite common trend, risk the outflow of employees where they will be allowed. It will also be more difficult to find professionals on the market. So far, a compromise for both parties seems to be the so-called hybrid model, where the employee can decide when he will go to the office and when he will work from home (eg 3 days at home, 2 days at the office).

2. Emphasis on diversity, inclusion and equity

You may have already heard the magic formula Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). But what does this mean in practice? It is about supporting diversity and fair treatment regardless of nationality, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, etc.In the Czech Republic, we perceive this issue mainly from the point of view of equal treatment between women and men, the elderly vs. younger generation and emphasizing fair conditions for working parents.

When was the last time you said to yourself "I mean, he's completely different from me, he'll fit into the company / I'll go for coffee with him/her!" These are simply unconscious prejudices that are not based on any facts or data. Maybe the person in question looks like someone you don't like. It only takes a little and this person will already cause a certain resentment in you. But if you realize this, you can work with it in the future and get rid of such prejudices.

To understand it better, let´s discuss one video, where there is a discussion about inclusive leadership, prejudices in HR, marketing, but also in everyday life, you can see it here: Dr. Steven Jones, Inclusive Leadership

TIP: Try to imagine that a man is standing in front of you and is telling you something. Would you react the same way if a woman said it? If not, then you are gender biased.

3. Different forms of cooperation

The HR department should always monitor how the labor market is developing. There are over 1,000,000 entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic offering various services or products for both the B2C (business-to-consumer) and B2B (business-to-business) communities.

In B2B, outsourcing (external provision of activities) or cooperation with external companies is a suitable option for companies that need services or products that solve their business, managerial or other problems, save time and make work more efficient. The emphasis on flexibility and trust is the same as between employees and employers. However, when working mainly with the self-employed, companies must be aware of the signs of dependent labor which is illegal.

We, in HR Cycle, applaud this trend, of course...!

What can you see in the picture? All HR trends: 1.home office 2. Diversity, equity, inclusion 3. Different forms of cooperation 4. Mental wellness 5. HR technology and working with data

4. Mental wellness

Along with good physical condition, mental health is finally coming to the fore. Of course, companies should first advocate for the creation of such company conditions where people feel safe, but nowadays the consequences, such as burnout, must also be treated.

At this time, companies offer therapeutic sessions, more sick days, managers are also trained on how to recognize burnout in its early stages, experiment with a 4-day work week and unlimited vacation. And in 2023 it will be no different.

TIP: Companies should mainly advocate for a healthy corporate culture, be able to give and receive feedback and build trust between management x employees x teams.

5. Usage of HR technology and working with data

Thanks to technology, companies can get rid of repetitive tasks, and technology should primarily make work easier and more efficient. HR should not make decisions only based on their instincts, although it is not good to underestimate intuition, the data that you will have faster and easier in your hands thanks to technology will help a lot. Do you know, for example, how to calculate turnover and how to work with it further? If not, our next article will help.

Technology automates and assists, but there is no substitute for human empathy, appreciation, warmth and strategic decision-making.

As the past years have shown, trends are there to show the direction, but they can also change over time and adapt to the given economic, political, social and environmental situation. Can you think of any other trend worth mentioning? Let us know!
